One thing that makes Connections unique is that its membership includes ten United Methodist ministers serving churches in the Dallas area. Two dozen more lay members join them (from even more churches) to fill out the roster of this unique band. Most of our shows feature a full band of more than 20 members on stage. Our name has rich meaning for anyone in the UMC, and we feel that through this music we are living out the "connection."
Connections' first show was a tribute to the music of Dan Fogelberg, a show that is more poignant to us since his untimely death. We do a tribute to the music of the Eagles and Chicago; James Taylor and Carole King; Doobie Brothers and Elton John; Stevie Wonder and Billy Joel.
Our show "Super Hits of the 70s" was a superhit with audiences, and in 2012, we look forward to debuting "Part II" of "Superhits of the 70s." We reprise all of our shows from time to time, and have a wide playlist.
Connections Band has raised almost $200,000 for groups such as the United Methodist Committee on Relief and Imagine No Malaria.
